Allahabad High Court dismissed a contempt plea filed by practising Advocate Arun Mishra against sitting judge, Justice Saral Srivastava, holding that courtroom arguments, disagreements, or even sharp verbal exchanges between a lawyer and a judge do not by themselves constitute criminal contempt.
The dispute arose from proceedings conducted in November 2025, where the advocate had sought recusal of Justice Srivastava from hearing a matter, claiming lack of confidence in the Bench. According to the plea, the request allegedly triggered remarks and conduct from the judge that the advocate described as humiliating and contemptuous.
